Yogananda is not for the faint of heart. The civet in the base is loud and unapologetic, lending a dirty, feral edge that can feel abrasive if you expect a clean, polished wear. Composed by Hans Georg Staudt, this MGO Duftanker release opens with jasmine and bergamot that quickly give way to a dense heart of Indian oud, rose, and neroli. Cashmeran adds a modern synthetic softness that tries to smooth the transition, but the animalic accord remains the star. Benzoin and cedar provide a resinous structure, yet they cannot fully tame the musk and Thailand oud that anchor the dry down.
The vanilla and oakmoss in the base create a deep, shadowy warmth that fits a heavy coat and a dimly lit room where the air is cold outside. It is a scent of contrasts, pairing white florals with a gritty amber foundation that feels niche and challenging. Powdery and warm spicy, it suits the wearer who wants to be noticed for their boldness rather than their elegance.
