MONA LISA opens with a sharp blood orange that cuts through a dry black tea. Cocoa sits beside them from the first spray, dark and slightly bitter rather than sweet. The combination feels immediate and direct, with the citrus providing a bright edge over the heavier materials.
The heart introduces heliotrope and carnation alongside geranium and cloves. The clove brings a dry, peppery heat that pushes against the soft, powdery heliotrope. Geranium adds a green, slightly medicinal leafiness that keeps the florals from becoming too rounded or soft.
In the base, incense and bois d'encens create a heavy, smoky resinous foundation. Cognac and honey add a thick, golden sweetness that merges with the cacao accord. Cedar and oud provide a dry, woody backbone that anchors the richer, balsamic elements without brightening the overall mood.
The composition is dense and heavily spiced, which makes it feel appropriate for cold air and dim lighting. The one limitation is the heavy use of synthetic amber and powdery florals, which can feel slightly cloying and artificial against the natural resin and wood.
