Drowning in Vanilla leans so far into its namesake that the spice and citrus notes barely register. Ginger, bergamot, pink pepper, and cardamot are present, yet they never challenge the vanilla’s dominance. Turkish rose and black currant add a faint fruity floral lift, but the benzoin, sandalwood, cedar, musk, ambergris, and patchouli mainly serve to thicken the vanilla rather than introduce contrast. The result is a single idea repeated in different shades, which grows monotonous if you prefer a composition with clear shifts or competing elements.
The vanilla feels dense and resinous, supported by powdery musk and amber that create a warm, steady presence through a cool morning or a crisp evening. It stays near the body, moving just far enough to be noticed when someone is close. The fresh spicy and citrus facets keep it from becoming heavy, making it comfortable for a day when the air is bright but the temperature has dropped. The lack of development remains the drawback, as the scent offers no new facets after the first few minutes, so patience with repetition is required.
