Our take

Ginger and pink pepper spark first, sharp and a little dry, before cardamom and black currant swing the fragrance toward something darker and more fruited. Bergamot and green notes flicker briefly at the very top too, easy to miss once the spice and currant take hold. Cécile Zarokian composed it for Nishane, and the shift from bright spice to dark fruit happens fast enough that the opening barely gets a chance to settle before the heart takes over.

Turkish rose sits just under the currant, more shadow than flower, and by the base the fragrance has moved into vanilla, benzoin and patchouli, warm and a little resinous without turning sweet in any obvious way. Sandalwood and cedar keep it structured rather than soft, and that resinous quality never tips toward syrup, so the whole base comes across as spiced wood dressed in something sweeter.

It clings to the skin longer than expected, and keeps its presence to a small circle around the wearer, quietly personal. Fall and winter are where it feels most at home, though spring holds up fine too. Musk and ambergris linger latest, giving the drydown a skin-warm hum long after the spice on top has faded, which is really the fragrance's whole arc in miniature: sharp, then dark, then quiet.
