Ocre Doré opens with a sharp, resinous bite of Iran galbanum that immediately signals this is not a polite floral. Mate and tea soften the edges just enough to keep the greenness from feeling medicinal, but the entrance is brisk and unapologetic. It feels like walking into a room where the windows are open and the air is cool.
The heart settles into oakmoss, which brings a damp, forest-floor quality that grounds the brighter top notes. This is where the fragrance finds its identity, sitting between a classic chypre and a modern woody blend without fully committing to either camp.
The drydown is the longest chapter. Guaiac wood and Virginia cedar build a dry, slightly smoky woodiness, while Indonesian patchouli leaf adds an earthy weight. Labdanum threads through with a balsamic warmth that keeps the base from becoming too dry, but the patchouli here is prominent and leans muddy rather than crisp.
Ocre Doré is composed by Shyamala Maisondieu and wears like a niche experiment that stayed a bit too safe. The blend is cohesive, yet the earthy patchouli base can feel heavy on the skin, and the galbanum never quite integrates with the woods. It is a demanding wear that lacks the lift needed to feel truly balanced.
