Our take

Ankh opens with a sharp bite that can feel abrasive if you expect a smooth citrus start. The lime and Amalfi lemon carry a sour edge that clashes with the pink pepper, creating a prickly first impression that some will find grating rather than refreshing.

Juniper and bergamot try to soften that entry, but the heart quickly shifts toward cypress and black pepper. Lavender and jasmine add a floral lift, though the cassis and nutmeg push the blend toward a dense, resinous middle that loses its bright opening fast.

Cinnamon and geranium hold the center while the base builds with vetiver, Virginia cedar, and guaiac wood. Birch and tobacco bring a dry smoke, and honey with vanilla pull the scent toward a sweet amber finish. The resinous benzoin, myrrh, frankincense, and French labdanum give the woods a heavy, lingering presence that fills the space around you and stays on the skin through a long day.

Sandalwood rounds out the drydown, but the opening sourness never fully disappears. That harsh citrus bite remains the weak point of a fragrance that otherwise carries its woody, aromatic weight with confidence from morning light through the rest of the day.
