Our take

Lucevera opens with a bright, almost brash burst of bergamot and black currant, tart and slightly jammy, like biting into fruit that’s not quite ripe. The heart softens into a pineapple sweetness that’s more candy than fresh, tangled with green notes and a leafy patchouli that keeps things from tipping into pure tropical vacation. As it settles, the base reveals a quiet ambergris saltiness and vanilla warmth, but the Virginia cedar remains the backbone, dry and splintery. The overall image is a polished wooden desk in a sunlit conservatory, a bowl of black currants and pineapple slices sitting beside an old ambergris paperweight, everything clean and composed but faintly synthetic around the edges.

This feels like a well-blended niche designer hybrid, sweet without being syrupy, fresh without being aquatic. The longevity is middling at best, barely four hours on my skin, and the sillage stays polite, a handshake rather than a hug. It works best as a bright daytime scent for spring or summer, ideal for the office or a brunch where you want to smell put-together without dominating the room. Who should skip it? Anyone craving dark, smoky richness or a fragrance that announces itself from across the bar. This one whispers, and it’s gone before you know it. But for the person who wants a cheerful, wearable fruity woody with a touch of salty depth, Lucevera delivers a pleasant, if fleeting, moment. Is that enough for four stars out of five? Just barely.
