Champs Délaissée
Fragrance notes
Character
Champs Délaissée opens with a thick smear of beeswax that feels heavy on the skin. Blood orange cuts through that wax with a sharp, cold edge. The almond here is not sweet. It is dry and flat. Civet sits in the base and gives the whole composition a dirty, lived-in texture. This is a scent that belongs in a dim room with wood panels and old leather chairs. The hay and costus add a rough, straw-like scratch to the back of the throat. Frankincense burns quietly underneath the florals, which include jasmine and rose. The oud is present but it does not take over the entire experience.
The musk holds the shape of the fragrance against the skin for a good while. It does not push outward to announce itself to the far side of the space. Fenugreek and flouve bring a curry-like warmth that twists the white tea into something savory. Immortelle leans into the vanilla accord without making the wear feel like a dessert. Leather and cedar ground the heart notes so the florals never float away. It is a complex, slightly aggressive mix that demands you sit still with it. A jar of raw honey left open on a cedar shelf in a room that smells of wet fur.
