Our take

Adjatay opens with a bright, almost zesty ylang-ylang and mandarin, but this is no sun-drenched stroll. The citrus is quickly swallowed by a dense, heady tuberose and jasmine, a standard white floral bouquet that could have been boring. Except for the animalic thread running underneath. Castoreum and styrax crawl into the heart like a warm, leather-gloved hand gripping those flowers by the stem. Heliotrope powders the edges, tonka and sandalwood add a creamy amber base, but the musk and castoreum keep this from ever feeling innocent. The overall image is a vintage satin evening glove, smudged with honey and left on a nightstand after a heated argument. It’s definitely niche in its refusal to be pretty, though the white florals are natural enough to smell like actual blossoms, just ones that have been crushed under something warm-blooded. Longevity is solid for a moderate sillage, about three to four hours before it hugs the skin, and the projection never screams. This is for someone who wants their florals to have a bite, a leather-clad defiance. Skip it if you like your tuberose innocent and your jasmine untouched by animalics. Wear it for a cool autumn evening, a dinner where you plan to be memorable, or a winter night when you want the scent of a tangled garden carried indoors. It is a fragrance that understands the tension between sweet and feral, and it wears that tension beautifully.
