Our take

Melody opens with patchouli that feels dry and slightly rough rather than rich. The earthy edge is immediate and it does not soften fast enough to let the florals breathe. Rose and iris arrive with a powdery texture that sits heavy on the skin. Jasmine adds a white floral lift but the citron and orange are faint, more a suggestion of zest than a bright spark. The heart stays in that powdered space, sweet but not fresh, with the citrus notes playing a small role in the background.

Pear in the base brings a juicy softness that clashes a little with the dry patchouli still present from the start. Tonka bean and vanilla turn the blend sweeter and more woody, though the vanilla leans synthetic and flat. The powdery accord remains dominant throughout, so the fruit never feels clean or crisp. It is a chypre floral that keeps its earthy character from beginning to end, with the sweetness increasing as the heavier notes settle in.

The main drawback is the synthetic vanilla that dulls the brighter notes instead of supporting them. Patchouli and powder push the fragrance toward a dated feel that some will find unappealing. The citron and orange lack the clarity needed to lift the composition. Melody suits those who enjoy heavy powder and earthy sweetness, but the artificial vanilla and the rough opening make it a difficult choice for anyone seeking a natural or modern floral.
