Our take

Marla by Bagirro brings patchouli and palisander rosewood together with cranberry and champaca. Black pepper adds a sharp edge to the fruit, while tonka bean rounds the corners with a soft, sweet weight. The result is earthy and woody, but the floral and fruity sides keep it from feeling heavy or dark. It is a mix that stays balanced between fresh spicy and balsamic, with vanilla sitting quietly underneath the louder notes.

The scent feels suited to a warm evening outdoors, when the air is still and the light is low. It carries a relaxed, slightly dressed-up mood that fits a dinner setting or a late walk through the city. The unisex character makes it easy to wear without leaning too far in one direction, though the patchouli does give it a clear personality that not everyone will like.

The champaca and cranberry can get lost once the spice and wood take hold. The fruit never really leads, and the floral note stays faint throughout. People who want a bright, noticeable berry or a clear flower in the blend will find this one too dominated by pepper and patchouli.
