Essencial Supreme opens with a burst of jammy plum and the prickly warmth of pink pepper, the grapefruit and bergamot barely cutting through the richness. It lands like a fistful of dried violet petals dusted with iris powder, a dense floral center where ylang ylang’s banana-like creaminess wrestles with jasmine sambac’s indolic edge. The drydown is where this fragrance earns its “supreme” name: vanilla and ambrette wrap the florals in a soft, musky blanket, while patchouli, sandalwood, and a whisper of ocotea quixos (a cinnamon-like Amazonian bark) add a woody, slightly spicy anchor. Carrot seed and myrrh sneak in to keep the powder from turning flat.
The overall character is a velvet cushion embroidered with dried roses and violets, left to rest in a cedar chest, heavy and sweet but never syrupy. It feels both luxurious and slightly synthetic in its smoothness, a well-crafted mainstream oriental floral that avoids being cloying by sheer density. Yet it struggles to project beyond arm’s length and fades to a skin scent within four hours, a real shame given how lush the composition is.
