Our take

Sichuan pepper crackles first, a dry effervescent prickle that fades almost before you can name it. Then rose creeps in, but not a jammy bloom, more like crushed petals on a dusty windowsill, lifted by ambroxan’s clean, airy sheen. The heart is oddly transparent, a gauze of pink and grey. As it settles, the base gathers into a soft, powdery vanilla cocoon, tonka and musk rounding out the edges while patchouli adds a faint rooty bitterness. The whole thing feels like flipping through a stack of old paperback novels in a sunlit secondhand shop, dusty, sweet, and strangely comforting. This is a gentle, almost intimate scent, low on sillage and gone from skin within a couple of hours, so do not expect a loud entrance. It is polished, slightly synthetic in that pleasant shampoo way, and sits between niche whimsy and mainstream wearability. Best suited for spring days or crisp fall afternoons when you want something cosy without cloying. If you crave projection or a vanilla bomb that lasts through dinner, skip it. But if you appreciate a fleeting whisper of rose and pepper tucked into a powdery blanket, this is your quiet companion for a lazy Sunday or a coffee shop afternoon.
