For a few minutes it feels like a winter market stall where someone is boiling mulled wine next to a beeswax candle. Then the heart crashes in with cacao and vanilla, a rich powdered chocolate truffle rolled in myrrh dust, and the patchouli keeps it grounded, stops it from floating off into pure gourmand territory. On my skin the base is where the fragrance earns its name: amber and French labdanum create a dense, resinous backdrop, while styrax adds a smoky, almost leathery finish that keeps the sweetness in check.

The overall effect is a heavy blanket worn indoors, a wool coat soaked in spiced honey and cocoa powder, thick enough to feel weight but not suffocating. It skews synthetic in the opening, a bit of Lattafa’s characteristic screech that smooths out within twenty minutes. This is a fragrance for cold weather, and the numbers back that up: nearly unanimous for winter, strong for fall. Sillage sits close, at just under three on the scale, so expect it to hug your skin rather than announce your arrival, and longevity is solid, around six to seven hours.
