Our take

This opens with a tart pear and lemon spritz, a little liquored plum sweetness clinging to the edges. It reads like a glossy fashion magazine freshly cracked open, all slick pages and powdery iris dusting the crease. The heart is where Stilettos on Lex gets interesting: heliotrope and violet leaf introduce a greenish, almost aquatic coolness that cuts through the floral crowd of rose and lily of the valley. It is a chypre at its core, but one that wears a candy necklace over its silk blouse. The base settles into a soft vanilla musk dusted with cedar and a whisper of patchouli, more clean than dirty, more polite than seductive. That is both its charm and its weakness. The longevity and sillage are polite as well, hovering around moderate and close to skin, which feels like a missed opportunity for a perfume named after a New York avenue. This is a daytime stroll, not a night out. It suits someone who wants a polished, powdery floral fruity scent that arrives on time and leaves on schedule, ideal for spring brunches or a desk in the sun. Skip it if you crave animalic depth, heavy resin, or a cloud that fills a room. It is a lovely, well mannered fragrance, but it never quite takes off its heels and dances.
