Monto is a香草-led argument for the idea that a masculine fragrance can be sweet without losing its spine. The opening places vanilla next to palisander rosewood and cinnamon, but the oud in the top notes immediately pulls the sweetness into darker territory. It does not float. The vanilla here is thick, resinous, and supported by elemi and a trace of jasmine that softens the spices without making them polite.
The woods carry the argument through the wear. Ebony, guaiac, and cedar build a dry, aromatic frame around the vanilla so that the scent stays present in a room without shouting. Vetiver adds a clean earthiness that keeps the balsamic accords from feeling heavy or cloying.
