Fougere du Paradis
Fragrance notes
Character
Fougere du Paradis asks a lot of the wearer before it offers much comfort. The opening is sharp and medicinal, with clary sage and elemi leaning into a resinous bite that can feel abrasive on skin. Lemon and lime add a bright flash, but the lavender here is dry and herbal rather than soft, so the entrance lacks the easy charm many expect from a fougere. Castoreum and white oud in the base bring an animalic weight that some will find challenging, especially if they prefer clean, soapy finishes.
Jasmine and tonka bean round the heart with a gentle sweetness that sits beneath the balsamic depth of Siam benzoin. Ambergris adds a salty mineral touch that keeps the blend from becoming too heavy. The overall impression is a dense forest floor after rain, where crushed herbs mix with damp earth and a faint trace of leather left behind by a passing animal.
