Juriah Privé
Fragrance notes
Character
The small room is quiet except for the sound of a heavy curtain shifting in a draft. Juriah Privé enters as a thick cloud of Turkish rose and Rosa Alba, their petals crushed against cool orris root. A trace of musk floats through the air, but the flowers do not stay bright for long. The scene changes as chrysanthemum and osmanthus arrive, their soft petals resting beside a strange, creamy note of butter that makes the air feel dense and rich. Cambodian oud begins to rise from the floorboards, dark and resinous, pulling the florals down into a heavier atmosphere where the scent begins to settle into the wood and stone around you.
The air grows warm as leather and benzoin take hold, their weight mixing with a deep, animalic ambergris that smells of skin and ancient resin. Oud continues to smolder in the corner, joined by mimosa and amber that glow like embers in a hearth. The chrysanthemum returns here, drier now, sitting atop a powdery iris foundation that covers the room in a fine dust. It smells of a carved wooden chest left open in a dim hallway, filled with cured hides, golden sap, and faded roses pressed between heavy pages, the entire space wrapped in a single, unbroken breath of smoke and sweet earth.
