Joyeux opens with a bright, cooling mix of lavender, bergamot, and mint. The lavender appears twice across the structure, giving the top and heart a steady herbal thread that runs through the fragrance. Clary sage and lily-of-the-valley add a clean, slightly powdery softness, while jasmine brings a gentle floral lift. The mint stays noticeable for a good while, helping the aromatic side feel crisp rather than heavy. This is not a sweet or sugary composition. It stays present on the skin for an extended period, so the lavender and sage do not vanish after a short time.
The base is complex and grounded. Leather and Mousse de Saxe give a dry, slightly animalic character, supported by tonka, Mysore sandalwood, and balsamic benzoin. Vetiver, cedar, and patchouli add earthy wood, while ambergris, musk, and seaweed contribute a salty, mineral depth. The scent stays near the body rather than projecting outward, so the leather and amber unfold quietly against the skin. It suits bright, sunlit settings where a clear, herbal fougere feels appropriate. The closing impression is a warm, resinous amber.
