The cardamom and black pepper add a prickle that keeps it from being polite. Then comes the heart — African geranium, not the rose-tinted stuff, but a harsh, almost metallic geranium leaf that smells like crushed stems and soil. Elemi resin and carrot seeds lend a faintly waxy, earthy quality, while orris root powders the edges just enough to stop it going feral.
The drydown settles into a moody vetiver and moss base, with guaiac wood and cedar offering a dry, smoky structure. Musk smooths the finish but doesn’t sweeten it. This is a fragrance that behaves like a botanical specimen pinned under glass: precise, naturalistic, and slightly austere. It feels niche in the best sense — no crowd-pleaser, but crafted with intent. Longevity is a modest three to four hours, and sillage hovers close to skin, which suits its introverted personality. Best worn in spring daylight, ideally on a wool coat in the drizzle, or in a study with a window cracked open. Skip it if you crave bubblegum florals or beast-mode projection.
