Our take

Cypriol and labdanum lead with a dark, resinous weight that feels heavy against the skin. Bergamot tries to lift the opening, but the citrus is brief and quickly overtaken by the smoke of liquidambar. This is not a bright introduction. It settles immediately into a dense, almost impenetrable woodiness that demands attention from the first spray.

The heart is a crowded ballroom of florals. Rose and iris sit beside gardenia and jasmine, while violet and carnation add a sharp, powdery edge. Acácia and ylang-ylang thicken the mix until the flowers feel more like dried petals crushed into amber than a fresh bouquet. It is a heavy, opulent floral layer that matches the resinous start.

Picture a dimly lit lounge where polished wood and leather furniture absorb the sound. The air is warm with the scent of spilled brandy and expensive smoke. Here, the base of sandalwood, oud, and guaiac wood feels at home, supported by vetiver and patchouli. The amber and musk wrap the woods in a sweet, earthy blanket that fits the low light perfectly.

The blend is so busy that individual notes rarely get a moment to breathe. With eight heart notes and eight base notes, the composition sometimes feels muddy rather than complex. The brandy accord, while interesting, can lean synthetic and cloying against the heavy musk. It is a rich scent, but the sheer density makes it difficult to parse clearly.
