Desirade by Aubusson opens with a brash, candied pineapple and aldehydes that fizz like sherbet on the tongue, softened immediately by a creamy wave of Madagascar ylang-ylang. The coriander and bergamot add a faint green flicker, but this is a fruit-bomb that knows exactly what it wants. Within minutes, the heart bursts into a full-blown white floral riot: tuberose and orange blossom wrestle for dominance, while osmanthus and jasmine weave a jammy, apricot-tinged sweetness. The violet and rose powder things over just enough to keep it from becoming a screeching mess.
Where Desirade truly shines is in its drydown, where the patchouli and sandalwood ground the cloying fruit into something warm and almost melancholic. The raspberry and plum linger like a dried fruit compote left too long on the counter, and the opoponax adds a resinous, slightly smoky incense note that feels deeply nostalgic.
