Our take

Velvet Bouquet opens with a bright mix of bergamot, neroli, and pear. The citrus is clean and immediate, while the pear adds a gentle fruitiness that softens the sharp edges of the bergamot. Neroli brings a slightly bitter, green facet that keeps the opening from leaning too heavily into sweetness. This combination feels polished and composed, moving quickly into the heart of the fragrance without losing its clarity.

The middle reveals orange and lily. The orange note is juicy and vibrant, sitting comfortably alongside the white floral character of the lily. Together they create a heart that is both aromatic and distinctly floral, with the lily providing a fresh, slightly powdery texture. The transition from the citrus top to this floral center feels smooth, maintaining the fragrance's overall fresh and green impression.

As it settles, teak wood and vetiver form the base. The teak wood introduces a dry, woody depth that grounds the brighter notes above it. Vetiver adds an earthy, slightly smoky quality that reinforces the aromatic accord. The combination results in a drydown that is woody and earthy rather than sweet, giving the fragrance a structured finish that balances its fruity and floral opening.

The blend is cohesive, but the individual notes sometimes compete rather than harmonize. The shift from the sweet pear and orange to the dry teak wood can feel abrupt, leaving the composition without a steady middle ground. The vetiver occasionally overwhelms the more delicate lily, making the floral aspect feel secondary in the overall structure.
