A small piece of grapefruit zest hits first, bright and oily, almost out of place. It is quickly overtaken by ginger root and a scattering of pink peppercorns that warm the skin without stinging it. This is not a light citrus; it is a thick, resinous opening that feels heavy in the chest. As the walk continues, the heart of the fragrance reveals a kitchen-like warmth, but it is not a sugar bomb. The praline note provides a milky, round softness that keeps the sharp cinnamon and dry nutmeg from becoming abrasive. It smells like a cashmere sweater that has absorbed the heat of a body walking through a cold wind. The base is where the name proves true. A deep, golden amber resin wraps around the dry down, mixing with the earthy, dark bitterness of patchouli and the smooth, almond-like depth of tonka bean.
