Our take

The heavy door swings shut behind you, cutting the wind from the street. Inside the dim leather workshop, the air is thick with the scent of cured hides and heated spices. Romulus opens immediately with a bold leather note, dark and textured like a well-worn jacket, rubbed smooth by years of use. Saffron and cinnamon sit beside it, not as a baking spice blend, but as a dry, metallic heat that rises from the material itself. The cinnamon provides a sharp edge to the saffron's golden dust, creating a rugged atmosphere that feels entirely masculine.

As the evening settles, the heart of the fragrance shifts the air in the room. Orris and heliotrope introduce a soft, powdery cloud that floats above the heavier elements. This is where the Lorenox molecule does its work, bridging the gap between the rough opening and the smooth base. The iris note brings a cool, root-like earthiness that tempers the initial heat, while the heliotrope adds a creamy, almost almond-like smoothness to the air. It transforms the workshop from a place of labor into a space of quiet craftsmanship.

The floor beneath the workbench holds the final layer of the scent. Oud and cypriol ground the composition with a deep, earthy woodiness that feels like soil after a rain. Tonka bean and vanilla absolute provide a rich, resinous sweetness that does not smell like a dessert, but rather like warm amber resin melting against the skin. The animalic accord lingers in the background, giving the woods a wild, untamed character that refuses to be polished. The smoke from a nearby fireplace mixes with the vanilla, creating a heavy, amber-laden haze.

You run a hand over the finished piece of luggage, feeling the grain of the leather as the orris powder settles on your sleeves. The cypriol and oud seem to grow stronger near the wooden beams of the ceiling, wrapping the room in a dense, woody blanket that feels permanent against the cool glass of the window. The vanilla absolute continues to hum alongside the saffron, a golden thread pulling through the dark, animalic woods, leaving the air thick with the scent of tonka and heated hide
