Our take

Sweet orange arrives first, but it is not the sugary juice-note that anchors cheap summer releases. It feels peeled and oily, with a faint pithy bitterness that keeps the opening grounded. Cloves appear almost immediately, adding a dry, autumnal edge that pushes the citrus away from simple brightness. Ginger sits underneath, lending a quiet heat that never becomes sharp or peppery.

Cinnamon takes over in the heart, but it stays clean and dry rather than sweet or pastry-like. It bridges the spice and the citrus without letting either dominate. The combination feels deliberate, not crowded. There is a clarity here that makes the wear experience feel focused rather than muddled.

Labdanum in the base reads as resinous and slightly leathery rather than openly amber-heavy. It adds weight and a faintly medicinal edge that some will find compelling and others will find off-putting. The note does not smooth the edges—it emphasizes them.

This is a spice-first fragrance that happens to open with citrus, not a bright orange scent with a spicy twist. The synthetic edge in the drydown is hard to ignore, and the aquatic accord listed alongside these dense, resinous notes feels confusing and out of place.
