Our take

The pavement is still damp from an early storm when a man leans against a brick wall near a row of closed shops. He wears a jacket with worn cuffs and a collar turned up against the air. Around him the scent of crushed laurels mixes with the sharp bite of juniper and the sour green lift of artemisia. A slice of lemon and bright bergamot cut through the damp stone, making the street feel awake again. The air smells like needles and resin. It is a morning that carries the weight of the night before, but the citrus keeps the mood from turning heavy.

Vetiver pushes through next, dry and rooty, tangled with the powder of jasmine and the clove snap of carnation. Patchouli adds a dark soil note while galbanum turns the air even greener. Pine tree rises from the cracks in the sidewalk, a resinous thread that ties the heart to the opening. The mix feels deliberate, as if someone arranged these plants on a workbench and decided to keep every stem. There is no softness here, only a clean and bitter edge that suits the cold air and the quiet street.

The base settles into a dense layer of oakmoss and musk, with castoreum and myrrh lending a deep animal warmth. Cinnamon and frankincense curl through the moss like smoke from a distant fire. Leather appears last, not loud, just the scent of an old glove left in a coat pocket. The whole scene smells of resin, earth, and skin. It is a fragrance built from forest floor and church incense, held together by a material that feels worked by hand. The man stays there while the air around him grows thicker with resin and wood
