Our take

Helenist opens with a sharp green edge that can feel thin and slightly screechy before the rest of the composition catches up. The fig leaf and rose top notes lean into that brisk, leafy character, which gives the fragrance an immediate freshness that some will find too stark. It is not a smooth or rounded entrance, and the transition into the heart takes a moment to settle into something more inviting.

Once the heart notes arrive, jasmine and coconut soften the initial bite. Violet and lily-of-the-valley add a clean, airy white floral layer that keeps the blend feeling light. The coconut brings a milky, lactonic quality that sits comfortably against the green opening. Sandalwood and tonka bean in the base provide a sweet, powdery foundation, with musk and cedar lending a dry, woody finish that prevents the sweetness from becoming heavy.

The drydown is pleasant but the overall structure feels unbalanced because that opening green note never fully integrates. It remains a little detached throughout the wear, creating a slight disjoint between the sharp start and the creamy heart. For those who prefer a seamless flow from top to base, this separation is a consistent drawback that defines the experience.
