Our take

Arabesque opens with fig and carrot seeds. The fig brings a soft, green fruit tone that feels fresh and slightly milky. Carrot seeds add an earthy, aromatic edge that prevents the opening from leaning fully sweet. This first stage stays close to the skin and moves forward quickly, giving way to the heart notes without much delay.

The heart centers on ambrette, poppy, and iris. Ambrette provides a musky, slightly nutty warmth that bridges the fruit and the florals. Poppy adds a light, airy floral touch, while iris contributes a smooth, powdery root character. Together they create a floral profile that is more textured than bright. In the base, tonka bean and heliotrope deliver a pronounced sweetness with a distinct vanilla accord. Sandalwood and cedar offer creamy and dry wood facets that ground the blend. The drydown is powdery, sweet, and woody, with the tonka and heliotrope leading the way and the woods supporting them underneath.

This is a fragrance that wears its powdery sweetness openly. The iris and heliotrope combination creates a soft, vintage leaning texture that some will find comforting. The limitation here is the carrot seed and ambrette combination, which can read as slightly bitter and vegetal against the vanilla accords. This contrast may feel uneven to those who prefer a seamless, polished blend.
