Obscure Pachouli
Fragrance notes
Character
Obscure Pachouli is not a subtle introduction to the note. The opening arrives with Calabrian bergamot and petitgrain Paraguay, but the brightness is brief and the transition feels abrupt. The citrus provides a sharp lift that disappears faster than the rest of the composition moves, leaving a gap before the heart notes settle in.
Milk chocolate joins jasmine and iris pallida to create a soft, gourmand center. The chocolate is creamy rather than bitter, and the jasmine adds a white floral lift that keeps the sweetness from becoming flat. Iris pallida contributes a powdery texture that sits between the chocolate and the base, bridging the gap with a smooth, slightly rooty feel.
Patchouli anchors the drydown alongside ambergris, ambrettolide, and benzoin. The patchouli is earthy and dark, supported by the resinous warmth of benzoin and the animalic depth of ambergris. Ambrettolide adds a musky softness that rounds the edges, creating a balsamic, woody finish that feels heavy and enveloping on the skin.
The blend fits a cold evening walk under heavy coats and dim streetlights. Someone who enjoys rich, earthy gourmands with a pronounced patchouli presence will find a reliable companion here when the air turns crisp.
