Character
The market stall is busy, with crates of tart pineapple and crisp apple stacked high beside baskets of black currants still cool from the morning air. A vendor slices into a bergamot, releasing a sharp citrus oil that cuts through the warmth of the pavement. As you step closer to the flower stands, jasmine petals brush against a bundle of fresh birch twigs, and a single pale rose rests on a wooden table. The air carries a green, aromatic lift that feels lively and unforced. Underneath the fruit and the petals, the ground itself seems present. Damp oakmoss clings to the roots of the display, while patchouli leaves and a soft amber resin sit near a bowl of vanilla pods. A light musk settles into the wooden slats of the stall, rounding out the scent so it feels earthy and sweet at once without becoming heavy.
You stand there with juice on your fingers and a flower stem in your hand, surrounded by the mix of fruit, wood, and soft powder rising from the mossy earth beneath the table.
