Our take

Charmed Life opens with a jubilant splash of guava, pear, red apple, and red berries, a fruity cocktail that feels like biting into a just-ripe piece of summer. The heart blooms quickly with coconut and a soft bouquet of peony, lily-of-the-valley, and jasmine, turning the sweetness creamy and floral. As it dries down, vanilla and praline take over, nudged by apricot and a whisper of sandalwood and musk, leaving a powdery, lactonic haze on skin. The overall impression is that of a fruit salad sprinkled with powdered sugar and a few crumpled flower petals, bright and cheerful but undeniably synthetic, more bath-and-body than boutique.

This is a fragrance built for impulse, not contemplation. It wears like a spritz of scented body mist, which makes sense given its longevity just above three hours and sillage that barely breaches personal space. For a spring or summer daytime dash, it is pleasant enough, but don’t expect it to survive a lunch hour. Who should wear it? The person who wants a low-commitment, affordable pick me up, someone who glides through errands in a sundress. Who should skip it? Anyone craving depth, or a scent that announces itself before you do. The numbers don’t lie: a 3.9 rating and a whisper for presence. Reasonable for the price, but why does it vanish so quickly?
