The lounge is dim, lit only by a few low lamps and the amber glow of a fire that has burned down to thick coals. Someone sets a glass of aged spirit on the table beside a peeled tangerine, and the air shifts. Abuser opens with that exact collision. Cognac and rum carry a boozy weight, while tangerine and mandarin orange lift the edges so the start feels bright rather than heavy. The room smells lived in, warm, and slightly indulgent, as if the evening has already been going on for a while.
Flowers move through the space without softening it. Orris and orange blossom add a powdery elegance, and rose and jasmine bring a gentle floral lift. Sage, lavender, and myrtle keep the heart dry and aromatic, steering the scent away from pure decadence. It smells like a gathering where people are comfortable, where smoke from the fireplace mixes with fine fabric and a glass that has just been refilled.
The base pulls the scene deeper into the walls. Oud and tobacco anchor the air with a dark, resinous weight. Incense, myrrh, opoponax, labdanum, and styrax add a thick balsamic glow, while birch, cade oil, and vetiver bring a charred, mineral edge. Sandalwood smooths the roughest corners. The accord is woody, amber, sweet, and smoky all at once, a dense layer that settles into the room like polished wood and old stone.
The composition is crowded. With eleven base notes and seven heart notes, the blend sometimes loses its shape. Individual elements blur together, and the tangerine that made the opening so vivid gets buried under the resin. It is a fragrance that wants to include everything, and that ambition occasionally makes it harder to follow.
