Spectre 590 - 899 Wash Of Chilled Vetiver

Character
Spectre 590 - 899 Wash Of Chilled Vetiver opens with birch tar, cardamom, mint, grapefruit, and lemon. The birch tar adds a dry, smoky edge to the bright citrus, while mint cools the spice without turning the start sharp. Cardamom warms the top gently, letting the lemon and grapefruit lead before the heart arrives.
Haitian vetiver, pine, cloves, and driftwood shape the middle. The vetiver feels clean and rooty, supported by pine that reads like crushed needles rather than a forest floor. Cloves add a quiet heat that stays in the background, and driftwood gives the heart a dry, saltless wood tone that avoids sweetness.
Vetiver returns in the base alongside benzoin, patchouli, cedar, and tonka bean. The vetiver and cedar keep the drydown firm, while benzoin and tonka add a soft resin that never becomes heavy. Patchouli sits low and earthy, lending weight so the scent stays present through a long wear and remains easy to notice near the skin.
Bertrand Duchaufour composed this 2023 release for Alûstre. The result is aromatic, woody, warm spicy, green, leather, citrus, earthy, amber, and fresh spicy.
