Character
Patchouli sits at the center of Cristóbal (2025), thick and damp like soil after rain. Oakmoss drapes over it with a green, slightly powdered touch that feels pulled from an older era of perfumery. Oud adds a resinous weight, dark and slightly medicinal, that keeps the blend from ever feeling light on the skin. The three notes do not chase each other in a sequence. They simply exist together in a dense, unbroken layer.
The mood fits a narrow cobblestone street at dusk, where the air is cool and the buildings block out the remaining light. A heavy coat and a scarf are part of the picture, along with the smell of wet bark and fallen leaves. It is a scent for walking alone with your hands in your pockets, surrounded by stone and shadow. The balsamic and warm spicy accords give the air a faintly heated quality, as if the fragrance holds its own small source of warmth against the cold.
There is a stubborn, almost stubbornly traditional character here that refuses to soften its edges for a modern audience. It smells of wardrobes and antique wood more than it smells of a fresh application from a new bottle.
