Our take

Fantasia by Anna Sui opens like a candy-colored carnival ride, all fizz and flirt. Pomelo and pink pepper give a zesty, almost sherbet-like sparkle, tart and tingling on the skin. Then the ride tilts: praline and raspberry crash in, syrupy sweet and vaguely lactonic, like melted milk chocolate drizzled over fresh fruit. A vague bouquet of floral notes tries to lighten things, but this is a gourmand through and through, sticky and playful. The base of cypress and Himalayan cedar provides a vague wooden frame, a creaky carousel pole holding the sugary chaos together, but it barely steadies the wheel.

The overall character is a teenage daydream, a glittery pink plastic compact you open on a sun-drenched bus ride. It feels synthetic in the best way, knowingly artificial and bright. Yet its weaknesses are plain: longevity barely clocks past two hours, and sillage is a soft blur that dissolves into a whisper within thirty minutes. This is a spritz-and-go, not a statement. It suits someone young at heart, someone who wants a sweet, fruity hit without any pretense. Skip it if you crave depth or a scent that lasts past lunch. Wear it on a warm spring afternoon, a lazy picnic, or a casual coffee date. Fantasia is a fleeting sugar rush, lovely while it lasts, but gone before the sun sets. 🌸
