Our take

Poetica opens like a crushed berry stain on a white shirt, a collision of wild berries and passionfruit that feels both playful and slightly reckless. The rose arrives quickly, but it’s not the dewy kind, it’s a jammy, almost syrupy rose that blurs into the cherry heart. That cherry note is the star, artificial yet charming, like the gloss on a candy apple. Tuberose and jasmine add a fleshy white floral warmth, but they never overwhelm the fruity pulse. On the dry down, praline and amber smooth everything into a soft, musky haze, with woody notes keeping it from tipping fully into dessert territory. The overall character is that of a Gothic Lolita, all velvet bows and dark lipstick, scribbling sonnets in a notebook smudged with jam.

It feels sweet and heavy, leaning synthetic in the opening but warming into a cosseting powdery floral gourmand. This is not a niche experiment, it’s a mainstream crowd pleaser with a 3.98 rating that makes sense for a fragrance that does exactly what it promises and no more. The longevity and sillage are average at best, a 3.30 and 3.17 respectively, which means you’ll need to reapply if you want it to last through dinner. Who should wear it? Anyone who loves a sweet, fruity floral with a gourmand edge and doesn’t mind that it stays close to the skin. Skip it if you demand projection or prefer crisp green florals. It’s perfect for a spring afternoon spent sipping rosé on a terracotta patio, or for a fall evening when you want a little warmth without shouting. One spray too many and it’s cloying, so go light.
