Our take

Crack the cap and you’re met with a grapefruit so tart it might as well be a wink, but that cheeky citrus is quickly smothered in a jammy peach and black currant compote. It’s a fruity floral that doesn’t apologize for its sweetness, but the real story begins when the magnolia and tuberose step in, creamy and indolic, dragging the whole affair toward a velvety, almost leathery heart. The dry down settles into a woody base of cedar and patchouli with a dry birch smoke that keeps the florals from floating away into generic perfume land. This is a fragrance that feels like a vintage silk scarf tossed over a worn leather jacket, romantic but with a rough edge. It leans synthetic in the most deliberate way, polished and niche, with a sillage that stays close and a longevity that will get you through a long dinner and then some (the numbers back that up). Best for spring and summer day wear, though it can handle a crisp fall evening too. It suits someone who wants opulence without shouting, a floral that knows its darker impulses. Skip it if you hate sweet florals or need a fresh aquatic. One question lingers though: do we really need another amber floral with fruit on top? Tuttle does it better than most, but it doesn’t reinvent the wheel.
