Super For Him by Playboy opens with a cheap, synthetic apple that snaps like a green Jolly Rancher, pepper and bergamot doing little to temper its candy-shop glare. Within minutes the pineapple arrives, canned and syrupy, sweetened by cinnamon and a whisper of lavender that tries to push this toward something aromatic but never quite escapes the fruit bowl. The dry down brings a thin amber, a dry cedar splinter, and a patchouli so faint it feels apologetic. The overall character is a scrubbed-down club kid at 2 p.m., a pineapple spear dipped in cinnamon and left to wilt on a plastic tray. It feels aggressively synthetic and mainstream, never pretending to be anything but a cheap thrill. Longevity and sillage are low, barely two hours and a forearm’s reach, so you will reapply or be forgotten. This is for a teenager grabbing his first cologne at a drugstore, a guy who wants to smell “fruity and fresh” without caring about complexity. Skip it if you value projection, depth, or any sense of originality. Wear it on a hot summer afternoon, to a casual barbecue, or to a school dance where nobody expects much. It works best in daylight when the sun can burn off its raw edges, but even then it feels like a 30-second sugar high in a three-dollar bottle.
