Vanilla Flash by Tauerville starts with a bourbon vanilla so deep and boozy it feels like you’ve cracked open a cask left to sweat in a dark cellar. The tobacco rises quickly, dry and leaf-like, but a rose woven through it keeps things from turning too ashy — think preserved petals pressed between the pages of an old leather journal. A gentle spice flickers at the edges, more black pepper than cinnamon, and the patchouli in the base adds an earthy bitterness that stops the whole affair from collapsing into sugar. This isn’t a fluffy gourmand. It’s a vanilla that has been roughed up, left out in the cold, then brought inside to warm by the fire. The overall impression is like a worn velvet armchair in a wood-paneled study, faintly sweet from spilled whiskey and a single wilting rose on the side table.
The scent stays close to the skin — sillage sits around a modest 3.19 — and longevity hovers near four hours, which is honest for a vanilla that doesn’t rely on syrupy fixatives.
