Our take

The February air bites at the collar as a figure leans against a brick wall near a closed market, the blood orange and bergamot catching the chill first. A faint, green sharpness from the curry tree moves through the citrus, bright and unusual against the cold stone. It is a quick flash before the door opens and the warmth inside takes over.

Roses from Bulgaria, Morocco, and May fill the room, layered deep and thick. Tobacco leaves, both dark and light, sit among them with the spiky, herbal lift of liatris. The air turns heavy with Assam oud and the dense, animalic weight of castoreum, while leather and oakmoss press into the corners. Virginia cedar adds a dry wood, and honey, amber, labdanum, and vanilla coat the sharper edges in a sweet, smoky resin. White musk lingers low, pulling the floral and the dark materials into a single, breathing cloud.

The roses do not sit quietly here. They tangle with the tobacco and the oud, the castoreum lending a wild, untamed edge to the petals while the leather wraps around the stems. Honey drips over the vanilla and amber, the labdanum and oakmoss grounding the sweetness so it never floats too high. The cedar and musk hold the shape together as the room grows warmer, the entire composition settling deeper into the air.
