Oceanic Oud
Fragrance notes
Character
Oceanic Oud by Aromas de Salazar opens with a sharp spray of white grapefruit and sweet orange, brightened by aldehydes that give the citrus a clean, slightly metallic edge. Seaweed and petitgrain add a bitter green contrast that keeps the fruit from becoming too sunny. The marine accord is present from the first moment, salty and damp, suggesting open water without leaning into soap. Violet leaf and clary sage in the heart introduce a cool herbal texture, while patchouli and cardamom bring a dry, earthy weight beneath the freshness. Praline and jasmine soften the greens with a light, powdery sweetness that feels controlled rather than gourmand.
Cambodian oud in the base is smooth and resinous, paired with ambergris and salt to maintain the seaside character deep into the wear. Amyris adds a warm woody tone that grounds the aquatic elements, and osmanthus contributes a soft floral peachiness that rounds out the drydown. The fragrance stays fresh and aromatic throughout, never becoming heavy or cloying. It suits cooler days near the coast or any setting where a crisp, saline profile feels appropriate. Those who prefer dry woods or pure orientals without a watery facet may find the marine presence too dominant. The scent settles on a salty, amber, woody finish.
