Recedere is a fragrance for the wearer who prefers atmosphere over approval. It asks you to lean into a damp, mineral quiet rather than chase a crowd, and the composition gives you two solid reasons to do so. The opening pairs licorice and plum, but these do not rush to impress. They sit low and dark, letting the fruit stay savory beside the bite of the herb.
Styrax and neroli form a heart that feels more resinous than floral. The neroli does not brighten the way it usually does in citrus-heavy blends. It settles into the styrax, adding a soft lift that never turns sharp or clean. This is where the scent begins to withdraw from the room.
The drydown is the argument’s strongest point. Cedar and moss meet wet plaster, creating a texture that smells like stone after rain. It is woody, mossy, and earthy in a way that feels grounded and still. The plaster note gives the base a cool, mineral weight that keeps the sweetness from the plum firmly in check.
