Our take

You have to admire the nerve of a fragrance that opens with such a precise, almost liturgical bitterness. L’Etrog hits you with a sharp, candied citron peel, the kind that makes your mouth water and your nose sting in equal measure. That brightness is quickly wrapped in the dusty, faintly honeyed sweetness of dates and the cool green whisper of palm leaf and myrtle. It smells like sunlight filtered through a woven roof. Rodrigo Flores-Roux and Yann Vasnier built this around a single vivid image: a harvest table set with fruit and herbs under a late summer sky, the air thick with dry heat and celebration.

The heart settles into a clean, aromatic vetiver that never goes muddy, supported by woody tones that stay light and almost papery. There is nothing heavy or syrupy here. It feels natural in the way a pressed leaf feels natural, not lab engineered but carefully composed. The sweetness is present but restrained, kept in check by the herbal spine. Given the modest longevity (around three hours on skin) and whispery sillage, this is not a fragrance that announces itself. It stays close, a private ritual rather than a public statement.

This scent suits someone who values nuance over volume, who wants to smell interesting without testing the patience of everyone in the room. Skip it if you need projection that fills an elevator or a leathery beast mode. Wear it on a hot spring afternoon when the light is golden, or on a quiet summer evening when you want to feel both grounded and lifted. It is a niche composition through and through, and its short life is its only real flaw, but that brevity forces you to appreciate every moment.
