Our take

Alma Nera opens with a dark pour of rum that feels thick and syrupy beside bright bergamot and orange. The citrus is there, but it never cuts the heaviness. Cloves quickly take over, warm and dry, pushing the rum toward a spiced bakery tone without crossing into sugar overload. Rose and jasmine sit behind that heat, soft and slightly powdery, while orange blossom adds a faint creamy lift that keeps the heart from feeling too dense. The base is where everything settles into a deep, resinous wood. Vanilla and amber wrap around precious woods and musk, creating a finish that smells expensive and slightly old-fashioned, like a velvet curtain in a dim room.

This is a fragrance for cold nights when the air bites and you want something that feels like a heavy coat. The rum and cloves create a boozy, spiced atmosphere that fits a quiet street after dark. The limitation here is the powder. The white florals and musk push the blend toward a vintage makeup bag scent that some will find dated. If you prefer clean, transparent compositions, the dusty drydown here will feel cloying and overly ornate.
