Our take

Blanc Polychrome opens with a sharp, cheerful slap of lemon and mandarin, the rhubarb adding a tart, almost vegetal crunch that keeps the citrus from feeling like straight soda pop. The heart wavers between petitgrain’s bitter green, a whisper of lavender’s herbal calm, and fig’s milky sweetness, but jasmine barely registers, drowned by the Ambroxan base before it can bloom. The drydown is a clean, slightly salty musk with a hint of moss, but it’s thin, a watercolor wash that fades to nothing within a couple of hours. This is a fragrance that behaves like a polite guest who leaves the party early: lovely while present, then gone without a fuss.

The overall character is that of a single, perfect slice of rhubarb pie left out in the summer sun, fragrant for a moment, then forgotten. It feels fresh and natural at first, but the synthetic Ambroxan base tips it into mainstream designer territory, lacking the complexity its note list suggests. With a sillage barely grazing skin and longevity closer to three hours than four, it’s a fragrance you wear for yourself, not for the room. Who should reach for this? Someone who wants a breezy, uncomplicated citrus for a hot morning coffee or a lazy afternoon by the pool. Who should skip it? Anyone who expects a jasmine or fig to actually show up, or who wants their perfume to last through lunch. It is the olfactory equivalent of a single lemonade ice cube, refreshing and utterly transient.
