Our take

Little Black Dress opens with an odd little spice kick, coriander and African ginger cutting through cyclamen and apricot blossom, before honeysuckle sweetens the whole thing into something more familiar. It is a surprisingly ambitious opening for a mass-market bottle, sharper and spicier than the name would lead you to expect, and that spice keeps resurfacing well into the wear instead of burning off with the top notes.

Ylang-ylang, jasmine and gardenia take over the heart and turn it into a fuller, creamier white floral, and datura adds a faint waxy weirdness that gives the sweetness some real personality. Pink peony softens the edges just slightly without erasing any of that strangeness underneath. Japanese plum and musk round out the base, staying power settling at an average pace, present but never assertive, and the sillage stays modest, a soft floral hush around the wearer that's easy to miss unless you're close.

It leans hard into the cooler months, fall and winter especially, and reads best after dark. Wear it for an evening out where a little sweetness and spice feel right, the ginger and coriander giving the florals a spicy backbone that carries through the whole composition from open to finish.
