Our take

Landfall opens with a dense rush of cacao and coffee, softened immediately by the resinous weight of labdanum. The combination feels dark and slightly bitter, leaning into the roasted facets of the beans rather than any bright or citrus edge. White chocolate and tonka bean arrive in the heart to add a creamy, rounded sweetness that keeps the opening from feeling too dry. The chocolate here reads smooth and milky, sitting close to the skin and blending with the warm spice that runs through the entire composition.

The base introduces ink, pinesap, oud, and Himalayan cedar, shifting the fragrance into a heavier, more forested space. The ink note gives a slightly mineral, dark impression that pairs with the sharp green quality of the pinesap. Oud and cedar provide a dry, woody foundation that anchors the earlier sweetness, though the transition can feel abrupt rather than seamless. The overall effect is a thick, resinous blend that suits a cold night and a quiet, dimly lit room.

Composed by Manfredi Gaetano, this is a heavy, gourmand-leaning woody fragrance that stays firmly in one mood from start to finish. The sweetness and the resin never fully integrate with the sharper green and mineral notes in the base, leaving a slight disjointed feel between the creamy heart and the dark woods. The synthetic edge on the pinesap note can also distract from the natural warmth of the cedar.
