The opening is a warm, spirited lift. Rum comes through first, not boozy in a cloying way, but rich and rounded, softened by a bright, resinous kick of elemi. Pink pepper adds a crisp, faintly fruity bite, while cinnamon lands with a gentle, dusty heat. It feels inviting and slightly unruly, like a drink poured in a dim, wood-paneled room where the laughter is already loud.
As it settles, the scent turns tougher. Leather appears, smooth but unmistakably rugged, with iris offering a powdery, root-like softness that keeps the edge from feeling too sharp. It reads as a scent with character and a bit of an attitude, never trying to be clean or easy. There is a dry, almost smoky pull to it, like well-worn fabric and old wood.
The dry down is where it really digs in. Tobacco and guaiac wood take over, heavy and sweet in a dark, cured way, while benzoin adds a thick, balsamic glow. Vetiver grounds it with an earthy, bitter freshness that stops the base from becoming too syrupy. It smells expensive in a moody, vintage-inspired way, built for someone who likes their scents bold, resinous, and just a little bit animalic.
It suits cooler weather and evening wear, or any moment that calls for something with presence and weight. If you usually reach for sheer, airy citrus or light aquatic scents, this will feel far too heavy and intense. It is a scent that smells like a leather jacket draped over a mahogany chair in a room lit only by candlelight.
