Our take

Aurica opens with a bright, almost aggressive burst of pineapple and cedar needles, the fruit candied and the wood sharp, undercut by a creamy wave of ylang-ylang and mandarin. It’s a loud, synthetic-leaning sweetness that feels more niche than natural, but that’s the point. Within minutes, the heart lurches into a dense, smoky Cambodian oud tangled with marigold’s hay-like bitterness and a jammy rose-jasmine duo. The transition is jarring, like walking from a citrus grove into a temple where incense has been burning for days.

On the drydown, Aurica settles into a warm, powdery musk anchored by vanilla, sandalwood, and a mossy vetiver that keeps it from tipping into pure dessert. The patchouli and amber add a balsamic richness, while the animalic musk hums just beneath the skin. This is a fragrance that feels heavy, even cloying to some. With a longevity rating of 3.79 and sillage of 3.31, it projects moderately for a few hours then sits close, which is honestly fine given its density.

The overall character is a sticky, dark floral honey left overnight in a wooden chest. It suits someone who enjoys opulence and doesn’t mind a bit of synthetic volume. Skip it if you lean toward fresh, airy scents or if oud gives you a headache. Spring and fall are its best seasons, but it works year-round as long as you don’t overspray. Wear it for a long dinner or a rainy afternoon, not a scorching midday commute.
